These limited edition photographic diptychs of Alexander Shulgin's laboratory are exclusively available as Erowid Center membership gifts. On the left, tendrils of ivy frame the lab's window, counterposed on the right with the laboratory door ajar to its alchemical interior. The pair of photos evokes the balance between the plant world and the world of chemistry.
The two images are from a series of photographs taken by artist Michael Rauner at Dr. Shulgin's laboratory in 2004, as part of his body of work compiled for Visionary State: A Journey through California's Spiritual Landscape, a collaboration with author Erik Davis. The photographs have been donated by the artist and Scott Nichols Gallery. These images are archival pigment prints made by the artist on 12" x 20" 100% cotton rag Hahnemühle paper. This is the most lightfast and archival of all color printing types. Alexander Shulgin has signed the front of each numbered print and Rauner has signed the back. There are a total of 25 prints available with three still remaining at the $750 sponsor level.
Each print is accompanied by a letter of authenticity, sleeved in a glassine sleeve and sandwiched between two sheets of protective hardboard to ensure safe delivery. Please specify the print number you would like in the comments field of the donation form. Email donations@erowid.org with questions or for additional details. All proceeds go towards the continuing development of Erowid Center and public educational resources about psychoactive plants and chemicals. |
